Working on Getting Pregnant?…Relax!
If you are working on getting pregnant or trying to get pregnant and it isn’t working maybe you need to take a deep breath and relax. I know….easier said than done. I am not a doctor but I know that your body will not allow you to become pregnant if it cannot physically handle it. I know many women who have had a very hard time getting pregnant and when they stopped thinking about it and gave up, they conceived. Stressing out about becoming pregnant can cause your body to prevent itself from being pregnant. This is kind of like how stress can cause your period to become late. Your emotions can heavily affect your physical state. So my advice…relax, don’t think about it and just have sex because you love your significant other, not just to make a baby. (I hear from a lot of men that baby sex just isn’t as good as regular sex). The science behind this is that when you stress out, your body releases a hormone that can delay ovulation.If you estimate your ovulation day incorrectly it may be harder to get pregnant. Many women do not know when they really ovulate and go by the myth that ovulation occurs on the 14th day of your cycle. You do not automatically ovulate on the 14th day of your cycle. When you ovulate depends on numerous factors, including how long your cycle it.
If you are charting, maybe take a break from charting for a month or two. You can still know your body without writing down every little thing. Just go ahead and have sex every other day and make it fun. Try your best to stop thinking about getting pregnant and enjoy the process. Again, I know it is easier said than done.
Of course this isn’t the case for all women, and many women successfully get pregnant when they are trying their hardest. This is just one thing that can help. Doing these things doesn’t guarantee a baby (nothing does, which yes, sucks). I also know that whether you relax or not cannot help in certain situations where medical intervention may be necessary to conceive. These are just a couple things that I have learned over the years that seem to work for friends and friends of friends. So relax, be healthy and happy baby making!
